Gonzalo Cruz, Executive Director of Don Bosco Workers, Inc.,  will describe the work of this organization including its mission, history, needs and goals.

Don Bosco Workers, Inc., located in Port Chester, NY, is  a formidable voice in the advocacy for workers rights, in particular the cause to end the exploitation of Latino immigrant workers. Their centralized hiring site provides an organized process for matching worker skills to employer needs and replaced the informal and hazardous outdoor hiring corners in Port Chester.  It has hosted nearly 800 workers since 2006, and has a current active membership of 150 men and women. In addition, it negotiates wage contracts and provides wage recovery services and advocacy for victims of wage fraud.  Gonzalo is himself a Mexican immigrant and a former undocumented day laborer.
