Join the American Ethical Union and millions of others around the world for Earth Hour 2019. March 30, 2019, at 8:30 p.m., in every time zone, we will signal our intention to protect and restore the earth by turning off our lights.
The purpose of Earth Hour is less about saving an hour’s worth of electricity than it is about increasing our awareness of the ways in which we are dependent on Planet Earth for our existence. With greater awareness–and the opportunity to enhance our awareness with thought and a little planning–we can take this hour to renew our connection to the earth and look more deeply into our responsibilities to protecting our planet and its inhabitants.
How you spend the hour is up to you. The only “requirement” is to turn off your lights from 8:30–9:30 p.m. (in your time zone) –except for those needed for safety. Amplify your participation in Earth Hour by sharing your experience via social media.
Please use the hashtags #connect2earth #ethicsinaction and #earthhour.
