An A.I. Threat

by Aura Fontaine

There is strong evidence that AI rob people of a joyful life, not as a result of loss of employment, although this is a very real and pressing concern, but by decreasing the motivation for creativity and human problem-solving skills.

Each of us, regardless of age or occupation, experiences joy and satisfaction when we create, produce, or discover something new. There is joy in learning a new piece of music, solving mathematical problems, writing a computer program, or creating artwork. All these things take time to perfect one’s skill and create something of quality. It’s the time we put in and the skills we develop that are the source of our pride and sense of self-worth. To seek out these skills is, in fact, one way that we treat ourselves ethically; to strive to be the best we can be with the resources within us.
