Join us for Tuesdays @ Dorry’s Weekly Table Talk! This week’s guest speaker is Nya Chambang, a refugee from South Sudan who dedicates herself to assisting other refugees.
Nya Chambang is the co-founder and president of Thon Met African Peace Foundation, Inc. She will speak with us about the refugee crisis in South Sudan, including her personal experiences, and what her organization has accomplished in resettlements. Under Nya’s leadership, Thon Met has orchestrated the on-the-ground rescue of 17 women and children from conflict zones in South Sudan to UN refugee camps. Thon Met has begun building a safe village in Ethiopia for refugees of South Sudan, where they can safely live and attend school to prepare for a better future. Nya has directed construction of the village and safe transportation of refugee families there.
In addition to these activities, Nya is also an advocate and volunteer for stronger gun laws in the United States, and has volunteered in New Orleans to help rebuild homes devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
Food ordering starts at 5:30 pm. The talk starts at 6 pm.
