Greetings Members & Friends,

There is excitement afoot at the Westchester Community for Ethical Culture!

We are planning to livestream the No Kings Day event, “Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment,” at our Meeting House on Sunday, June 14. We will NOT meet at 11 a.m. as usual but will reschedule the Round Table discussion.

This No Kings Day format is different from others you many have participated in. The idea is to gather in homes, businesses and community centers to encourage unity and activism in support of the First Amendment. (It will also serve as an alternative to Trump’s birthday bloodsport on the White House grounds.)

As noted, the event will be live streamed from NYC at 7:30 and will feature Rufus Wainwright, Patti Smith, Bette Midler, among others. Jane Fonda and Joy Reid will (I assume) provide commentary and introduce musicians and speakers. We should probably gather no later than 7:00.

Since we’re WCEC, we will provide snacks and beverages. RSVPs will be sent out shortly, so please reply.  Family and friends are welcome, but we need to have an accurate count of attendees. We will need volunteers to set up and others to clean up.

Graphic for “Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment” virtual watch party. Text reads: “June 14 @ 7:30 PM ET.” The design has a yellow textured background, bold black and yellow event text, a hand-drawn crown over a red X, and a small party popper icon.
