Please join Rev. Anastassia Zinke, who will be speaking on “The Stand at Stonewall.”

The Stonewall riots, 50 years ago this month, are widely considered to constitute the single most important event leading to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBTQ rights in the United States, but this encounter wasn’t about LGBTQ rights alone. It is also an example of intersectionality and an interesting example of protest movements generally. Let us learn more about Stonewall and its impact, and what lessons it still teaches us.

Anastassia Zinke is the senior minister of All Souls Unitarian Church in Indianapolis. She completed her undergraduate history degree at Bryn Mawr College and her Masters of Divinity at Union Theological Seminary in 2011. She and her husband, Kent, are parents to a daughter, Sadie, and son, Benjamin. They share a commitment to progressive causes, international travel, community service, and “embracing the adventure of life.”
