What we think we know about critical thinking skills often “just ain’t so.” The ability to be clear and rational about what we do and what we believe is a valuable life skill, and a whole lot more difficult than we would like. Just when we think we’re at our most rational, we may instead be misled and mistaken. It’s easy to have an unreasonable faith in reasonableness.

Jone Johnson Lewis, Leader of the Riverdale-Yonkers Society, will talk about how our brains sometimes deceive us when we want to think critically, and will suggest some ways to recognize when we’re being less reasonable than we imagine we are being.
