Oil train (commons.wikimedia.org/)

Break Free is a series of 23 mass actions demanding to Keep Fossil Fuels In The Ground in 12 countries on 6 continents. Action has already started all across the globe.

On May 14th in Albany, NY people from across the Northeast will stop the fracked oil trains in the port of Albany with their bodies. They will stop the “bomb train,” the presence of which is an act of environmental racism, class prejudice, and an illegal breach of the public trust. They will make it clear that the health and safety of the residents of Albany matter, and that we have an ethical duty to secure human rights of future generations when government has so dramatically failed to do so. Over a thousand people are signed up to join, over 600 plan to risk arrest to stop the train, and we expect the number to be much larger than that.

This is a massive legal demonstration and civil disobedience action (optional) against oil bomb trains, oil barges, and fracking pipelines. The Coalition to Ban Unsafe Oil Trains will take part, as will many more organizations.  For more info, visit http://www.albany2016.org.
