Our guest speaker will be Ahed Festuk, a 29-year-old activist from Aleppo, Syria. Mary Refling of the Westchester Refugee Task Force will join her. During the revolution, Ahed organized protests against the Assad regime, provided first aid in local hospitals, and volunteered with Catholic Relief Services to distribute emergency supplies after the civil war began. Thanks to the help of the Institute of War and Peace Reporting, she escaped to the United States nine months ago and is now seeking political asylum.

Come to hear Ahed’s story and hear about planning to welcome refugee families to Westchester.

We will be splitting our morning collection with the refugee resettlement project in our area.
