Deed before Creed
Ethical Culture shares a common purpose with all who believe that doing good is the true purpose of religion. We express it simply as Deed before Creed.
Actions are varied from working with Habitat for Humanity to build housing, to environmental projects and concern, to maintaining Adopt A Road mileage. Members participate in Amnesty International projects, hosting an annual blood drive, donating food at Thanksgiving, toys at Christmas. We donate 50% of the collection, first Sunday of every month, to a selected cause.
Our Sunday school kids “sell” donated food after Platform on most Sundays. The food goes to a food bank and the kids pick charities for donating the money. Also a requisite for Sunday School graduation is a a community service project. Kids collect for Unicef at Halloween and pennies, Pennies for Peace.
